Go Mac!

Kat did some research on my new home and found that a site that comes up when you Google “Addis Ababa map” is, oddly, one set up by a Mac kid for his geography class. My neighborhood is not on this map or any others I could find online; it’s southeast of the city center, down Bole Rd. which is the newest part of Addis, and growing. There are new buildings going up everywhere; at first I thought they were abandoned shells, because their cement is pitted and gray and there are thousands of wooden poles crookedly supporting the structures so that they appear haphazard shelters. I asked our driver and he said, “Those are under construction. Iron poles are very expensive here, so they use wood.”
