Continued opportunities for awkwardness

The typical greeting here is to shake someone by the right hand and touch cheeks three times: right, left, right. So if you don’t know what you are doing, there are at least five opportunities to be awkward: first when you shake hands and realize they aren’t letting go yet; second when you lean in and don’t know whether to do a eurostyle kiss or touch cheeks; third when you realize there are not one cheek-touches but two, like in Italy; four when you are leaning back to let go and then realize it hasn’t ended yet; and five when it’s over and you’ve lost count and lean forward again as they release your hand. Let this be a lesson to all of you, should you visit here.
